Preparing for your first session with MindPact
How to join your video consultation
You’ll connect with your psychologist through a secure, online video link (Coviu). You will receive your secure video link by SMS three days prior and by email one day prior.
Simply click the link at your scheduled appointment time - no downloads are required.
We recommend setting up 5 minutes before your session in a private, comfortable space with a reliable internet connection.

What we expect in your first psychology session
Your first session is about you, your story, your experiences, and what you’d like to get out of therapy. It’s a space to start building a genuine relationship with your psychologist, where you can feel safe, heard, and understood.
1. Building Connection
The first session focuses on getting to know you, not just what’s been challenging, but also your strengths, values, and what matters most to you. Your psychologist will take time to understand how you see things and what feels most important right now.
2. Exploring What’s Brought You Here
You’ll have the opportunity to talk about what’s been happening in your life, how it’s been affecting you, and what you hope will change. There’s no pressure to share everything, we’ll go at your pace and focus on what feels comfortable.
3. Understanding and Collaboration
Your psychologist will ask some gentle questions about your background, health, relationships, and current supports. This helps us build a shared understanding of your situation and how we can work together effectively.
4. Planning the Way Forward
By the end of the first session, your psychologist will summarise key themes, reflect what they’ve heard, and outline next steps. Together, you’ll begin shaping a plan that fits you, whether that’s short-term support, a structured treatment pathway, or ongoing personal development.
5. After the Session
It’s common to feel lighter, reflective, or even a little tired after your first session, that’s a normal part of processing. Your psychologist may offer simple grounding or self-care strategies to help you integrate the experience and prepare for your next appointment.
If you have any questions ahead of your session, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our administrative team via phone on 1300 163 819, or by emailing info@mindpact.com.au.
We look forward to supporting you.
